From Tom Johnston's wartime vision to the construction of dams, tunnels and power stations across the Highlands, Power from the Glens tells the remarkable story of how hydro-electricity brought light, opportunity and modern living to some of the most remote communities in Britain. Through historic photographs, personal stories and archive material, discover the pioneers, engineers and "Hydro Boys" whose work transformed the landscape and changed lives forever.
This illustrated talk will explore not only the engineering triumphs of the 1940s and 1950s, but also the lasting legacy of a renewable energy revolution whose impact can still be seen across Scotland today.

Tea Ladies Of Perthshire
Nine Ladies Dancing Tea is the result of several years’ planning, innovation and hard graft by the eponymous nine ladies behind the brand.
‘We never set out to be a ladies tea brand, but that’s how it worked out,’ says Pinkie Methven, who once pounded the pavements as a London WPC and now tends to tea bushes in her two-acre walled garden at St Martin’s Abbey in Perthshire. ‘We’re all ladies of a certain age with access to some sheltered space and we liked the idea of doing something that hadn’t been done before.’
